Position: Data Architect
Project/Role Description:
Candidate will work under the general supervision of the Data
Architecture Lead and assist in the following areas:
Candidate will work directly with Lead Solution Architect, Database & ETL Group Leads and Project Manager
Review business requirements and technical design documents to develop effective data and database solutions
Create, maintain, and define Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Modeling for various Honda projects using Relational theory and Dimensional modeling
Provide Data Analysis/Profiling support
Create, maintain, define ETL specifications and work with the ETL team to troubleshoot data movement and transformation challenges
Provide insight into the logical business data requirement to work with the DBA to support physical data model considerations
Provide estimation services for ROM task and time documentation for the Project team
Works closely with solution/application architects in designing and developing the design of the system.
Provide feedback, technical input and participate in review of the overall architecture
Ensure solution designs address performance requirements and availability, integrity and security challenges as well as business functional requirements
Work with strategic vs. tactical requirements of the organization to fulfill the business needs
Candidate will be responsible for development and maintenance of data
architecture in support of project development team and aligning them to the Enterprise Architecture
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
Needs at least 10 to 12 years experience in IT industry
At least 8 years of experience with database design methodologies and data architecture experience which should include data modeling, analysis and profiling
At least 3-5 years of recent experience with Erwin Data Modeling Tools
Experience in relational data modeling covering conceptual, logical and physical data models, dimensional data models, Data Dictionary and Metadata
Experience developing large scale IT applications and data architecture work products and deliverables throughout development life cycle
Strong background in data architecture design of applications using RDBMS, especially DB2 UDB and SQL Server (Oracle a Plus)
Strong knowledge of SQL – minimum of 5+ years of experience
Experience with Transactional / Data Warehouse / Data / Report Marts
Strong background in data architecture design for applications
involving closed-loop systems, data warehousing and business intelligence
Experience in developing information requirements and taking a project from conceptualization to implementation
Conduct JAD sessions, gather user data requirements, understand the user requirements and assist in the reconciliation of technical and business requirements as they relate to data
Strong prior experience in documenting the design specifications including data interface specifications and/or data mappings
Must be experienced in project management in order to assist the
project manager on the project status for the enterprise architecture and data services teams
Demonstrated proficiency with database architecture tasks, techniques, and tools.
Demonstrated proficiency with logical and physical data modeling.
Demonstrated proficiency with database modeling theory including data normalization, replication, integrity, and security
Maintain, govern and enforce data architecture-related standards
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant computer-related field or 10+ years equivalent experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present both business user level and technical presentations is a must

Able to work independently and provide updates to leads and management
Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
+Plus Qualifications:
Automobile industry experience is a definite plus
Experience with data & legacy application integration with 3rd party packages
Experience and knowledge in Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and web based development in an n-tier environment
Experience in enterprise data federation and integration using technologies like DB2 Information Integrator, DB2 Federation etc.
Experience with programming in Mainframe and Unix environments (Cobol and Unix shell scripting)
Experience with RFP process, package, and vendor evaluation process
Experience in financial applications within automotive
Experience with Data warehousing and Reporting and tools like
Informatica, Informatica PowerCenter Designer and Business Objects, Crystal Reports
