Description

This role is a member of the application architecture group that provides application development and infrastructure teams technical advice and guidance on a as-needed basis based on the overall architecture direction and vision.

Responsibilities include:

developing and maintaining solution patterns and best practices/ techniques that can be leveraged and repeated from project to project. The team also keeps track of emerging technology and injects them into project on an as-needed basis.

In addition to having a broad range of technical skills, the person must also be able to communicate his/her ideas effectively to a technical and business audience. The person must also possess project management and organization skills to manage and gain consensus amongst team members/ departments.

This role will require the need to have a very strong Customer Orientation. The individual must be able to work well with end-users to learn about their specific business needs and must be able to gain their confidence when presenting solutions to their systems needs.

Responsibilities:

• The candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Provide technical consulting support to Application Development teams that includes telematic
• Provide support as a technical lead or technical architect on a telematics project
• Recognize the major architectural issues and trade-offs faced when designing the software solution
• Advise on the use of various software technologies for maximizing business benefits
• Develop, maintain and communicate architecture/ solution patterns to the AD teams

Required Qualifications:

Telematics experience is required

- Experience with large system development and integration (ability to technically understand and integrate many moving parts on a project)

- Experience with dealing with architecture and tech leads from different vendor organizations

- Experience with integrating web sites into a SOA type architecture
- Experience with moving information via an ESB
- Experience with delivering data on devices (not hand-helds/smartphones)
- Experience with delivering services to smart phones
- Experience with infrastructure concepts like network and security
- Experience with UML Design
- Experience on the J2EE and .Net platform (hands-on preferred for some prototyping but not reqd).

Experience:

• Required- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or have equivalent experience,
• Required – Demonstrated ability to think strategically and drill down into technical or business details.
• Required- 10 or more years of general IT experience with 5 or more years in a vendor pre- or post-sales role or with an IT professional services company
• Required – 5 years or more in the capacity of a Technical or Solutions Architect
• Required – 10 years systems analysis and application design
• Required – 5 years web application design
• Required – 5 years project leadership

Required – Experience working on a telematics project

Knowledge:

• Required – Must have broad range of skills with different technical platforms (servers, networks, storage, etc.)
• Required – Must have application development skills on the J2EE and .Net platform

Required – Must have telematics experience, and product development knowledge

• Required – Must have Object Oriented Design experience
• Required – Must have application design experience using UML
• Required – Good understanding of the different architecture patterns and their tradeoffs and we able to explain to the business unit
• Required – Must have experience in service oriented architecture
• Required- Experience with implementing Portal technologies, Web Site Development, Enterprise Service Bus, Federated Identity Management, , etc.
• Required – Experience in application development on the hand-held devices

Required – Infrastructure development knowledge especially knowledge of wide area networks
Required – Systems mgmt skills for support a business critical application

• Must be outgoing with good interpersonal and communications skills
